Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has given a firm and upbeat update on “The Fantastic Four” after months of rumors. He confirmed on the new Official Marvel Podcast that production will start right after San Diego Comic Con ends in late summer. Fans can also look forward to major announcements from Marvel at that time since Feige also confirmed when the film takes place.
Matt Shakman will direct the film The Fantastic Four. Pedro Pascal will play Reed Richards also known as Mister Fantastic. Vanessa Kirby will be Sue Storm, the Invisible Woman. Johnny Storm, or the Human Torch, will be played by Joseph Quinn. Ben Grimm known as The Thing, will feature Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Julia Garner will take on the role of The Silver Surfer, and Ralph Ineson will portray Galactus. John Malkovich, Natasha Lyonne, and Paul Walter Hauser are also part of the cast in roles yet to be revealed. This movie is a major move for the MCU following the most recent Avengers film.
Feige uncovered during Marvel’s first The Official Marvel Podcast episode that shooting begins right after July ends, “The day following Comic-Con [International: San Diego], we start filming Fantastic Four.” He also gave kudos to Marvel fans for their sharp detective work. They figured out the time period from clues in one of the movie’s promo posters.
Feige has always admired the Fantastic Four viewing them as key Marvel characters he couldn’t show in movies until now. He’s thrilled about the task of making a new film after two disappointing ones.
“I’m extremely excited by it because I think those characters are mainstays, are legendary pillars of the Marvel Universe that we’ve never gotten to play with or explore in a significant way outside of Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness and a few fun teases before, in the way that we’re doing it in that film. So I’m extremely excited for that.”
The Fantastic Four is due to be released in theaters on July 25, 2025.
